Cultural Products of Jiangbei District

The skills of Jiangbei Shu embroidery can be traced back to more than 500 years. The stitches are neat, the colors are soft, and local characteristics are distinctive. The images are mainly of flowers and birds, animals, landscapes, insects, fish, and Chinese characters. The works include clothes, shoes, cushions, tablecloths, headscarves, handkerchiefs, and painted screens.

Ancient knots originated from the ancient practice of knotting memorandums, which gradually evolved into decorative artwork. The knots are typically made of cotton, hemp, or silk, with concentric knots, peach knots, lucky knots, and other styles. They are often used for cheongsam buckles, earrings, pendants, and bracelets.

Wool knitted paintings are created with a traditional manual technique. Colored yarns are used as raw material, which is hand-knitted, and then trimmed into three-dimensional artistic creations with scissors. The works are not only rich in color but also varied in shape. The flowers, birds, landscapes, and characters all appear true to life.

Bamboo carving skills in Jiangbei have a history going back hundreds of years. Based on the natural texture and grooves of bamboo shells, artists use exaggerated techniques to carve out landscapes and characters.
