Chongqing's Guangyang Island, available for sightseeing after undergoing the first phase of ecological restoration, was opened to the public on August 22. The largest river island in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River has been re-introduced to the public as "the Scenic Focus of the Yangtze River and Chongqing Ecological Island." For citizens, they can enjoy the beautiful scenery without traveling far.

The island is reopened, visitors can find flowers and plants flourish and chic design of ecological scene.

"I brought my kids to visit the island every year, and this time it is different," Ms. Li, a citizen who came to the island on the first day of opening, said with an exclamation. She said the island was a large area of bare slope grassland in the past, but now flowers and plants flourish and the design of the ecological scene so pleasant. 

Actually, the island was under the risk of losing its natural beauty. Before 2018, three million square meters of real estate planned, including 25.45 kilometers of urban roads, 25 high cut slope cliffs, two quarry tailings, and seven excavated mounds. If the construction is carried out, the small-scale terraced fields and natural water system developed over thousands of years here will no longer exist.

Today, there are more than 400 kinds of plants and 300 kinds of animals living on the island.

In 2018, the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and Chongqing Municipal People's Government embarked on ecological restoration and environmental remediation work on Guangyang Island. Focusing on natural restoration, they introduced six measures, including "protecting mountains, regulating water, creating forests, dredging fields, clearing lakes, and adding grass" to realize ecological restoration. The Tuerping Wetland here covers an area of two square kilometers and has 2.7 square kilometers of mountain forests.

During the trial opening, the island will be open from 10:00 to 17:00 every day. The public can make a reservation via the WeChat Official Account of the "GuangYang Island Green Development Company." Only 1000 visitors allowed during the trial period.
