In June last year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus reached an agreement on the establishment of Belarusian consulate in Chongqing. After consultation with the Belarusian side, it was originally planned to open the consulate early this year, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Talking about the next step, Dmitry Emelyanov said that the most important task at present is to get the Belarusian Consulate General in Chongqing to open as soon as possible. He said that this is a relatively complicated process, and he hopes that with the strong supports from government and departments in Chongqing, the work will be operated smoothly and the Belarusian Consulate is estimated to be opened within three months.
