Chongqing- The China Digital Building Summit was held in Southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality on September 1, with the theme of "In the digital age, reshape the core competitiveness of enterprises". The summit focused on popular topics such as enterprise digital transformation, new infrastructure, digital cost, Building Information Modeling, and smart construction.  It was hosted by the Organizing Committee of the Smart China Expo, Chongqing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Chongqing Nan'an District People's Government, Administrative Committee of Chongqing Economic and Technological Development Zone, and Chongqing Modern Construction Industry Development Research Institute.

As the 11th annual event of the construction industry, this summit focused on transformation practices and took the lead in trying the latest 5G technology It created a new form of online and offline as well as virtual and real combination, and altogether more than 5,000 guests from 16 cities took part in the summit. All in all, the annual event focused on the digitalization of the industry with new models and new experiences and explored the development direction of the industry.

"With the rapid development of new-generation information technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, 'developing the digital economy and building smart cities' is a must for promoting innovation-driven development, promoting new urbanization, and taking the road of high-quality development,” said Wang Maochun, deputy secretary of the CPC Nan'an District Committee, deputy secretary of the Party Working Committee and director of the Administrative Committee of Chongqing Economic Development Zone.

In recent years, Chongqing has implemented the strategic action plan for innovation-driven development led by big data and smart technology with an emphasis on the smart building industry. Efforts have been made for an intelligent construction industrial system integrating an Internet platform for the construction industry, a smart city operation and maintenance platform,  talents for construction technology and innovation, green and smart construction demonstration parks as well as standardized production headquarters of the construction industry. At present, it has gathered a number of high-quality enterprises and scientific research institutes in the construction industry, such as Glodon Technology, China Construction Technology Group, and Chongqing Modern Construction Industry Development Research Institute. 

In terms of the achievements of the digital development of the construction industry, Chongqing has built a smart housing construction cloud service platform and an industry data center. It has cooperated with Tencent to build and release the country's first construction industry Internet platform. In addition, Chongqing has formulated and released of construction and evaluation standards for smart construction sites, promoted the construction of more than 2,400 smart projects, and established and launched the Chongqing smart management platform for construction sites.

Chen Guangyu, member of the Party Committee and deputy director of Chongqing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development said that Chongqing will focus on intelligent construction, and use the application of big data intelligent technology in the whole process of construction as a starting point, accelerate the construction of an intelligent construction system, and establish a project management model suitable for the development of big data and smart technology, and promote the digital transformation of the construction industry.
