Yubei has been a testbed for Chongqing’s emerging industries like Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, 5G and Cloud Computing, and is now actively engaged in building itself into a model smart city. To date, the Xiantao Big Data Valley industrial park has contracted a total of 834 high-tech enterprises to set up bases there, and was listed among the first batch of demonstration parks under the China (Chongqing) - Singapore Connectivity Initiative.

“We have been dedicated to the integrated development of emerging industries and the upgrading of conventional industries,” said Tan Qing, mayor of the Yubei district and deputy secretary of the CPC Yubei District Committee. “As well as the construction of a smart city with superior efficiency in urban administration, public transport, public security, emergency management and civil services.”

Last year’s summit inspired nationwide discussions on building smart cities via civil services, urban governance, industrial integration and ecological development, and proved to be an important platform for exchanges in the academic and business circles, said Li Bin, director of the Municipal Big Data Application and Development Administration at the press conference.

“Experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, as well as senior executives from industry leaders like Tencent, Huawei, Alibaba and Kingsoft will share their insights at this year’s event,” Li said. A research publication titled “White Paper on the Integration of Information Infrastructure for Storage, Computing and Network” will also be released during the summit.

Due to the requirements for COVID-19 control and prevention measures, the number of offline participants allowed to the summit will be limited to a mere 150, which will mostly be made of up professional audience invited by the organizing committee. An online participation channel will also be created on the Smart China Expo’s official website to accommodate the needs of a wider audience to join the discussion while watching the live stream of the summit.
