The Department of Rural Industrial Development of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs recently released the List of Candidate China Beautiful Leisure Villages in 2020, which includes 248 villages across the country.

Among them, 12 villages are located in Chongqing — They are Wutu Village, Dazhou Town, Wanzhou District; Chengtuo Village, Honghu Town, Changshou District; Hongyan Village, Sanjiao Town, Qijiang District; Hongqi Village, Dajin Town, Kaizhou District; Yantang Village, Furong Subdistrict, Wulong District; Lanxi Village, Lantian Town, Chengkou County; Mudan Village, Taiping Town, Dianjiang County; Qishan Village, Qingshui Tujia Township, Yunyang County; Wenchang Village, Ping'an Township, Fengjie County; Ganyuan Village, Quchi Town, Wushan County; Chashan Village, Hongchiba Township, Wuxi County; Pingba Village, Zhongyi Town, Shizhu County respectively.

Wutu Village, Dazhou Town, Wanzhou District

Wutu Village in Dazhou Town is located in the center of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area, 18 kilometers away from Wanzhou urban area, and 5 kilometers away from the Shanghai-Chengdu Expressway. With convenient transportation and obvious location advantages, the village covers an area of 3.1 square kilometers. It is one of the first batches of pilot new rural construction villages, municipal-level demonstration well-off villages, and civilized national villages approved for construction in Chongqing. Being conveniently located, Wutu Village, boasting a beautiful natural environment and densely distributed fruit trees, is nourished by plentiful rainfall and enjoys a pleasant climate. With a greening rate of 55.1%, Wutu Village is home to a slew of characteristic recreational farmhouses which attract an endless stream of tourists.

Chengtuo Village, Honghu Town, Changshou District

Chengtuo Village is located in the northwest of Honghu Town between Mingyue Mountain and Tongluo Mountain. It borders Yaotan Town, Linshui County, Sichuan Province, to the north and Tongjing Town, Yubei District, to the south. This is a richly endowed land. Mountains, water bodies, flowers, and fruits are everywhere. Chengtuo Village is an ideal place for sightseeing and fruit picking, and one of the pilot villages in Chongqing to implement the rural revitalization strategy.

Hongyan Village, Sanjiao Town, Qijiang District

Hongyan Village is located in the south of Sanjiao Town, Qijiang District. It is 10 kilometers away from the town government and 19 kilometers away from Qijiang urban area. Hongyan Village lies in an area of mountains and hills, with a sloping terrain that is high in the south but low in the north. Located 500 to 1,370 meters above the sea level, it is close to Chongqing Qijiang National Geopark and is rich in tourism resources. Hongyan Village has renovated the human settlement environment of more than 150 households in four settlements, including Chenjiawan, Wangjiashan, Wawu, and Mujiayan, according to beautiful village construction standards. The rural landscape is improving day by day.

Hongqi Village, Dajin Town, Kaizhou District

Hongqi Village is located in the southeast of Dajin Town, covering an area of 7.8 square kilometers. It has lowered the incidence of poverty from 15.5% to 0.7% and has achieved the goal of continued development and industrial prosperity. An industrial pattern featuring diversified development and centering on tea production is in the making. In 2019, the village's collective economy garnered 264,000 yuan in revenue. All 876 members of the village collective enjoyed the dividend of joint economic development.

Yantang Village, Furong Subdistrict, Wulong District

Yantang Village is located in the northeast of the Wulong District, about 7 kilometers away from the urban area. With an altitude of 700-1,200 meters, it covers an area of 5.72 square kilometers, 70% of which is covered by forest. Here, one can have the fun of pottery making and feel the thrill of flying through Wulong City in a parachute glider. Yantang Village vigorously promotes the improvement of the rural living environment, achieving fruitful results in this respect. The village is neat and orderly, and the villagers' overall health awareness is increasing.

By converting their farmhouses into guest houses, the villagers are seizing the opportunities that come with rural revitalization. These superb recreational locations are attracting a long stream of citizens in pursuit of entertainment and leisure.
