Chongqing– In order to promote the recovery of the consumer market and the full restoration of business order, Chongqing will hold the “Aishang Chongqing” (fall in love with Chongqing lifestyle) Golden Autumn Consumption Festival, with a total of 37 key series of events and supporting activities under seven themes to be staged, according to the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce on September 7, 2020.
With the slogan “Happy Consumption, Better Life”, this festival will span from the third quarter to the fourth. Relevant departments in all districts/counties will join hands to mobilize business, cultural tourism, and financial enterprises and e-commerce platforms in the whole city at the festival. It’s an event during the national consumption promotion month. Connecting all the links of business, tourism, culture, entertainment, shopping, amusements, food, housing, and travel, it aims to present a consumption feast covering the whole city for local citizens and visitors to Chongqing. Up to now, there have been more than 3,000 participating units and over 300 supporting activities.
This festival is going to launch on September 8 at Guanyinqiao Business Circle in Jiangbei District. At the opening ceremony, the city will launch the Chengdu-Chongqing Consumption Festival, issue the Declaration of Chengdu-Chongqing Consumption Service Alliance, release the New Catering Partnership Plan of Alibaba, launch the “Aishang Chongqing” Consumer Service Platform, and award the first batch of enterprise representatives selected into the Chongqing Brand Pavilion. Besides, the International Consumption Center Urban Construction Achievements Exhibition and the “Bayu New Consumption” Themed Exhibition will be set to fully display the new image and achievements of consumption in Chongqing.
Later, various activities focusing on seven themes of trend-setting products, food, landscape, living, nightscape, poverty alleviation, and the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle will be launched one after another to promote consumption. They involve key goods like automobiles and home appliances, quality home furnishing, fine clothing, electronic information, green and healthy products, export-oriented commodities sold at home, time-honored domestic brands, imported high-quality goods, agricultural products for poverty alleviation, famous, special, excellent and new local products, cultural and creative products, stay-at-home economy, night-time economy, etc.
The high spot of these activities is the promotion beneficial to the people. During these activities, the sponsor will coordinate with major commercial banks in the city, join hands with large supermarkets, core business circles, convenience stores, scenic spots famous online, and cinemas, as well as merchants involve in special delicacies, agricultural specialties, and transportation. They will offer consumers instant discounts and electronic coupons in the daily consumption areas such as food, shopping, culture, entertainment, travel, and tourism.
The related person in charge said that the success of this event will further stimulate consumer sentiment and promote the full restoration of business order in a bid to enhance the vitality of market entities and stabilize the industry chain and supply chain. It will also inject new impetus into accelerating consumption recovery and unleashing potential and create new supply to safeguard people’s basic livelihood and meet the diversified and personalized needs.
Since the beginning of this year, Chongqing has been coordinating epidemic prevention & control and socio-economic development. From January to July, the city’s total retail sales growth of consumer goods picked up by two percentage points compared with the first half-year, 4.7 percentage points above the national level. The total retail sales of consumer goods rose by 7.6% in July, the fourth consecutive month of positive growth.
