Chongqing– The 5th Euro-China Green and Smart City Summit will be held in Sino-Swiss Techno Park (SSTP), Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing, on September 14, 2020. Currently, the Summit has been successfully held in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Ningbo, and Nanning for four times, attracting around 350 Chinese and European cities to participate in the exhibition and about 150 Chinese and European city delegations to visit from 40 countries and regions. Among a series of international cooperation activities on green and smart cities, this Summit features the highest level of internationalization, the most abundant content, and the most practical pattern.
This Summit is sponsored by the Organizing Committee of Smart China Expo, guided by the European Commission and jointly undertaken by China Center for Urban Development, Chongqing Development and Reform Commission, Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Administrative Committee, and Prospective and Innovation Foundation.
To further promote bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Chongqing and European countries and regions on a larger scale, at a higher level and a deeper level, step up the building of the Chengdu-Chongqing dual-core pattern of opening-up with resonance, contribute to the development of the Belt and Road Initiative and inland open highland in Chongqing, the two sides of the Summit will officially launch “European Chongqing Centre” and sign the contract between Mannheim (Rhine-Neckar) and Chongqing.
On June 22, 2020, when meeting with Charles Michel, President of the European Council, and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, in a video conference, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out, “China is keen to work together with Europe to make Euro-China relations more stable and mature in the post-pandemic era towards a higher level. The two sides are required to strengthen the cooperation in Euro-China green and digital fields and build the partnership in green development.”
By focusing on the new situation in Euro-China cooperation in the post-pandemic era, China Center for Urban Development and Prospective and Innovation Foundation have worked together to organize the activity on “Collecting Excellent Cases of Euro-China Digital Epidemic Response,” aiming at enhancing the Euro-China experience and technology exchange against the epidemic and strengthening dialogue and cooperation on global public health governance to promote the construction of a global community with human health.
More than 150 digital anti-epidemic cases have been collected in the activity, including those from over 30 domestic provinces and cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Chongqing, Wuhan, Ningbo, Qingdao, and Xiamen, and those excellent ones recommended by 25 cities from 13 European countries including the UK, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain to the organizing committee. The case contents cover management mechanism, application effect, technology innovation, platform innovation, etc.
In this review, all the declared cases will be analyzed from innovation mechanism, digital technology application, anti-epidemic effect, comprehensive evaluation, and other perspectives in the mode of on-site defense and comprehensive score to select the excellent cases with remarkable achievements in the digital anti-epidemic job. The evaluation result will be officially announced to the public at the Summit.
Chongqing will be the permanent venue for the Summit, which will further improve the cooperation of Euro-China green and smart cities in new technology and application, enhance the Euro-China exchange and cooperation in economy, trade, education, technology, culture, and other fields, further build the cooperation platform for Euro-China green and smart cities, strengthen the communication among Chinese and European cities and social organizations, promote the implementation of green and digital economy industrial projects and boost the exchanges and cooperation among China and Europe and China and other countries and regions in the world.
