Chongqing- Partial major projects of Western (Chongqing) Science City started construction on September 11, marking the start of the construction of the science city, according to the administrative committee of Chongqing High-tech Zone Friday. These 79 major projects, with a total investment of about 130 billion yuan (about USD 19.02), include Science Avenue, Science Valley, and Science City Ecological Water System Demonstration Project.

Science Avenue

Science Avenue starts at the south end of the Beibei Beidong (East) Bridge and ends at the north end of Jiangjin Zhiping Yangtze River Bridge, with a total length of 66 kilometers. Science Avenue is designed to be a comprehensive avenue, integrating transportation, image display, green sharing, and smart science. It is divided into five major urban functional segments and two natural ecological segments and finally builds a 5+2 urban and natural image central axis. It aims to be the gateway brand of Western (Chongqing) Science City, which gathers elements of scientific and technological innovation and establishes a model of a landscape city.

Among projects classified by type, there are 9 science and innovation projects with a total investment of about 38.5 billion yuan; 52 industrial projects about 47.5 billion yuan; 11 infrastructure projects about 29.5 billion yuan; 7 public service supporting projects about 14.5 billion yuan. Moreover, by region, there are 14 directly-managed parks in Chongqing High-tech Zone with a total investment of about 48.2 billion yuan; 16 in Shapingba District about 17.2 billion yuan; 11 in Jiulongpo District about 24.5 billion yuan; 6 in Beibei District about 12.5 billion yuan; 16 in Jiangjin District about 17.5 billion; 16 in Bishan District about 10.1 billion.

At present, the Western (Chongqing) Science City is home to industrial clusters for a new generation of information technology at 100 billion-level, advanced manufacturing at 50 billion-level, two great health, and high-tech services at the billion-level. Among them, the output value of centralized circuits accounted for more than 80% of Chongqing’s total. It will accelerate the construction of the Science Park, Science Hall, China Electronics Chongqing Xinchuang Industry Demonstration Base, and Ping An Health Industrial Park.
