As one of the major theme forums during the 2020 Smart China Expo Online, the 3rd Industrial Internet and Smart manufacturing Forum, with the theme of "Pooling Strength from Industrial Internet, Building a Smart Manufacturing Powerhouse," was successfully held on Sept. 15 in Chongqing.

Zhou Xun, deputy director of the Standing Committee of Chongqing Municipal People's Congress, and Shi Hongyan, deputy director of the First Industrial Equipment Department of the Ministry of Industry Information Technology (MIIT), addressed the Forum. Almost 300 people attended the Forum, including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, celebrated experts and scholars, and representatives of Fortune 500 companies, government departments, and relevant industries.
Ten secondary nodes
The Forum launched ten secondary nodes of industrial internet identifier resolution, covering industrial fields and comprehensive industries, such as construction, medical devices, automobile, and hardware. They are expected to fuel the deep integration and application of industrial internet identifier resolution, improve key basic capabilities of Chongqing in new-type infrastructure construction, and empower the digital transformation of the city's manufacturing industry.
Three public service platforms
The Forum saw the debut of the Chongqing Industrial Internet Public Service Platform, the Chongqing Industrial Internet Security Situational Awareness Platform, and the Chongqing Smart Manufacturing Information Management Platform, which are expected to improve the city's ability to offer public services in industrial internet and smart manufacturing.
The first platform aims to create a whole industrial ecosystem for governments, enterprises, universities, research institutes, finance, and applications. The second platform is a provincial-level platform built based on the "One Platform for One Province/Municipality" philosophy proposed by MIIT to monitor the status of industrial internet security. The third platform was developed following national standards, such as China Manufacturing Maturity Model, to evaluate the capability of companies in smart manufacturing.
Ten model enterprises
The "2020 Chongqing Smart Manufacturing Model Enterprises" list compiled by the Chongqing Municipal Economic and Information Technology Commission was announced at the Forum. Chongqing Chuanyi Automation Co., Ltd. and nine other local enterprises were selected and received the honor at the event. The list is part of the local government's efforts to give play to top enterprises' leading role in expediting the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry.
5G + Industrial internet
China Unicom, together with Chang'an Automobile, set up a sand table outside the Forum's venue to demonstrate the collaborative smart manufacturing factory in the automobile industry. The factory exemplified the deep integration of next-generation information technologies such as 5G, edge cloud computing, and industrial internet with the traditional automobile manufacturing industry.
