"It focuses on the theme of Build a Pioneer of Opening-up in Inland China and Improve the Internationalization of Chongqing," said Zhang Zhikui, director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce. Discussions will involve topics such as developing a higher level of an open economy, building a modern international city, and promoting the joint construction of reform and opening-up in the Chengdu-Chongqing region to the next level.

This annual meeting will adopt a new method of combining online and offline means, namely the online global directional live broadcast platform and the yearly offline meeting live room. It will be the first time that a themed online conference will be held utilizing a multi-point video. A total of 15 advisors and guests from overseas across four time zones will give online speeches. The adoption of the online conference breaks the limitation of time and space and can accommodate 1,000 people to participate in the conference online at the same time. Thus, it provides more convenience for participators. It aims to seek international experience sharing and development path suggestions to deepen exchanges and cooperation between Chongqing and the world's top 500 and famous multinational companies under new circumstances.

There are four newly-added advisory companies for this year's CMIA annual meeting, namely SAP, Air Products, MSD, and Hitachi-ABB. Moreover, ten advisors from Nomura Securities, Suez, Tokio Marine Holdings, ABB, BASF, Cummins, HPE, HP, Kawasaki Heavy Industries have been replaced due to work changes and other reasons. Currently, there are 40 CMIA members.

"All countries are facing the arduous task of fighting the epidemic, stabilizing the economy, and protecting people's livelihood," said Zhang. Chongqing's economic recovery and high-quality development momentum are good, and there are significant opportunities, such as building a pioneer in inland China and the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle. Multinational corporations are generally optimistic about the development of Chongqing and hope to strengthen exchanges at all levels and expand cooperation. "In this context, the Chongqing Municipal People's Government holds the 15th annual meeting as scheduled and invited advisors to gather online to discuss development and cooperation." Zhang added, "It shows Chongqing's determination and confidence in further opening up and deepening international cooperation."
