Chongqing- The 2020 Chongqing International Venture Conference (CIVC) is to be held in the Western (Chongqing) Science City from October 22 to 24, according to the Chongqing municipal press conference on Tuesday. It is the first international event held in the Western (Chongqing) Science City since its construction commencement. It aims to further pool domestic and foreign innovation resources and unleash the vitality of innovation and entrepreneurship. The CIVC comprises videoconferencing and offline meetings under the theme of “Intelligence, Innovation, Entrepreneurship: Explore Western (Chongqing) Science City".

 The CIVC focuses on venture capital, equity investment, mergers and acquisition investment, financial technology, and other fields. It will carry out extensive discussions, and attract venture capital from all over the world, with high-ranking guests, wide-coverage, and influence.

Li Bo, Vice Mayor of the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, said,  “It will help Chongqing build an inland international financial center and a pioneer of opening-up in inland open, accelerate the construction of the Western (Chongqing) Science City, promote the integrated development of the digital economy and the real economy, and increase the concentration of Chongqing’s financial institutions and further its opening-up in the financial sector.  It is of great significance to enhance the effectiveness of financial services in the real economy.”

Last year, there were five newly listed companies in Chongqing. It is expected that there will be seven at the end of this year as five have been listed and two to be listed. As of the end of August this year, the stock market has achieved initial public offering and refinancing of 21.7 billion yuan (about USD 3.22 billion), the largest financing scale in western China, and the issuance of corporate bonds of 171.9 billion yuan, with an increase of 64.7%.

An international, high-level, and industrial conference

The Chongqing International Venture Conference is hosted by Western (Chongqing) Science City, and co-organized by Chongqing Local Financial Supervision and Administration Bureau, Chongqing Science and Technology Bureau, and Shapingba District People’s Government.

The conference is featured with internationalization, high-level, and industrialization. Three major activities of the conference, discussion, and roadshow will be carried out. 

 In the conference section, it is planned to invite leaders of national ministries and commissions, representatives from famous international venture capital institutions, representatives and investors of local high-tech zones and technology parks, leaders of local government guidance funds, executives of listed companies, economists, etc. Speeches to be delivered both online and offline will involve the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle and the Western (Chongqing) Science City.

The roadshow promotion section will explore outstanding scientific and technological innovation projects in Chongqing, Southwest China, and even the whole country, and build a platform for launching and displaying good projects, financing, and pooling wisdom.

 Moreover, founders, CEOs, and managing partners from world-renowned venture capital institutions, including IDG Capital, Hillhouse Capital, and Qualcomm Ventures, will gather in Chongqing.  They will bring wonderful speeches and project roadshows to pool high-end resources for Chongqing's construction of a multi-level capital market.

In addition, the conference will also set up an investment institution exhibition area, enterprise exhibition experience area, Chongqing policy exhibition area, and other promotion platforms. Well-known investment institutions, securities institutions, invested companies, and independent players, unicorn enterprises will give presentations and introductions, so that more investment institutions and emerging enterprises will have a comprehensive understanding of Chongqing, and invest in the city.
