Chongqing to Open Its First Post-pandemic Marathon in Wulong

The press conference of the 2020 Chongqing Wulong Fairy Mountain Marathon, organized by the People's Government of Wulong District, kicked off at Fairy Mountain on October 12. This is the first post-pandemic marathon for Chongqing and its first sport-tourism marathon. An online challenge by partnering with Leshan will be launched. Runners from Leshan will be invited to Wulong to participate in the race to boost the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle. This marathon will be opened at Fairy Mountain, Wulong District at 8:30 on October 18, 2020.

The press conference

There will be a male/female half-marathon (21.0975 km) and a mini-marathon (5.8 km). The former will include couples groups and the latter will include family groups. There will be 2,000 runners. As for the award set, the top three for male/female half-marathon will get 5,000 yuan, 3,000 yuan, and 2,000 yuan respectively, with runners from the 4th to 10th receiving different prizes. The top 9 for couples groups will get prizes from 400 yuan to 1,000 yuan. Moreover, all runners will receive medals, certificates, and other prizes to enhance their sense of honor.

Themed on "Running at Fairy Mountain, Joy in Wulong", this marathon is the first post-epidemic event for Chongqing. It is also the first sport-tourism marathon launched by the city through maximizing the tourism resources of Fairy Mountain in the Wulong District. Details will be fully present in every course.

The organizer of the event will also provide some benefits including free shuttle buses from Wulong to Fairy Mountain, free tickets to visit Fairy Mountain Forest Park, energy supply stations, and warm items for a low-temperature environment.
