2020 Chongqing · Wulong Fairy Mountain Marathon started at 8:30am on October 18, which serves as the first post-COVID-19 marathon in Chongqing. The number of runners to be enrolled was reached quickly with an age range of 3-71.

The event is guided by the Administration of Sport of Chongqing and hosted by the People’s Government of Wulong District. It sets up two competition projects: male/female half-marathon (21.0975 km) and mini-marathon (about 5.8 km). Specifically, the former includes couple groups and the latter includes family groups, with the total runners reaching 2,000.

It is interesting to know that Olympic champion Xuerui Li also showed up and sent wishes to all the runners. “I hope all of you can enjoy running, achieve good results, and appreciate your healthy body and life brought by running and exercising,” Li said. “Due to the impact of COVID-19, people have stayed at home for a long time and are very eager for sports and marathons. So I hope our first post-COVID-19 marathon activity in this year can get off to a very good start.”

According to the data provided by the Organizing Committee, men are the main force, accounting for 60% of the total runners. In terms of the age, most runners are young people aged 30-40. It is also worth mentioning that it has attracted a lot of runners from Sichuan, reaching a total number of 356.

Moreover, the activity also sets up an epidemic containment working group to make corresponding arrangements in each stage: limiting the participants to people from Sichuan and Chongqing in the stage of registration, conducting comprehensive disinfection in the stage of material collection and hotel check-in, providing infrared thermometer and disinfectant in the stage of roll-call, etc.
