By JAMES ALEXANDER|Oct 28,2020

Chongqing- The 18th China International Agricultural Trade Fair (CATF) and the 20th Western China (Chongqing) International Agricultural Products Fair will be held at the Chongqing International Expo Center from November 27-30, according to the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Agricultural and Rural Affairs on October 26.

Having been successfully held over 17 previous editions, the CATF has developed into the most authoritative and influential comprehensive agricultural industry event in China through years of experience and practice.

Since the two events held in Chongqing happen to coincide and feature a similar range of exhibitors, organizers made a decision to merge the agricultural fairs and hold them simultaneously.
Prior to the dual product fair being held, a representative of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Agriculture and Rural Affairs explained the significance behind the grand-scale event.

"This present year marks a decisive battle in the cause of poverty alleviation and the attainment of a moderately-prosperous society in all respects. The Party Central Committee has proposed the new development pattern of domestic and overseas markets complement and reinforce each other with the domestic market as the mainstay. At this critical juncture, the agricultural fair possesses significance and far-reaching influence."

The CATF will be the first time that Chongqing Municipality has hosted such a large-scale national level exhibition in agriculture. As a result, the event presents a great opportunity for Chongqing to promote rural revitalization, stimulate domestic circulation, and contribute to the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.

The agricultural fair will be open to the public from the afternoon of November 27th until the 30th. Admission will be limited to time slots by prior appointment.

The exhibition will aim to concentrate displays of new business models and products across the agriculture industry through creating opportunities for trade, cooperation, poverty alleviation, brand marketing, and more effective channels between production and sales.

Another goal is to bring together large domestic companies and brands, whilst also paying attention to the growing needs of small to medium-sized enterprises. The event aims to stimulate the vitality of market players, aid agricultural enterprises in opening up to new markets, and provide impetus to agricultural and rural economic development.

Additionally, the agricultural products of 18 deeply impoverished towns in Chongqing Municipality will be on display at the event, which under official recognition of the e-commerce application Bawei Yuzhen, the general public will gain access to a wider range of high-quality agricultural products.

As a whole, the exhibition area will occupy 204,000 square meters divided into two areas for public welfare and market orientation. The public welfare exhibitions will feature poverty alleviation through the industry, living environments, and geographical indications.

Market-orientation areas will exhibit grain and oil, storage, and preservation facilities, as well as digital agriculture displays. A total of 100,000 high-quality agricultural products from 30 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across the country have been carefully selected, with over 50,000 professional buyers arranged to attend the exhibition.

As the 4-day fair approaches, the rich variety of exhibits and activities promises guests a thoroughly rewarding visit.
