As of September 30, Chongqing has 4,829 thousand 5G users, which means every one out of seven people uses 5G, according to Chongqing Communications Administration.

The steady growth of Chongqing's 5G users and their smooth user-experience of 5G characteristic applications are due to the steady progress of building 5G base stations.

At present, Chongqing ranks among the top in China in terms of the number of 5G base stations.

In 2019, Chongqing built 10,000 5G base stations. This April, it fired the first shot in its fight to build a 5G network. As of October 20 this year, the city has built 34,000 new 5G base stations, raising the total number of opened 5G base stations to 44,000, realizing 5G coverage in key areas of all districts and counties.

As the number of 5G base stations increases, 5G is also applied more and more widely.

In addition to a series of characteristic applications, in Chongqing, 5G is also applied in smart tourism, unmanned driving, telemedicine, online learning, telecommuting, smart warehousing and logistics, intelligent manufacturing, industrial internet, and other fields. 5G supports the city to build "a powerhouse of smart manufacturing" and "a famous smart city," with a target of developing the digital economy.

According to Chongqing Communications Administration, Chongqing will continue to strengthen 5G development research, prepare policy options, vigorously promote 5G application demonstration projects, and boost 5G's application in health, public security, and transportation, education, and other areas of social management.

Meanwhile, Chongqing will implement 5G+ industrial internet efforts, encourage enterprises to make full use of public network resources, and explore various construction and operation models such as virtual private networks and hybrid private networks.

Since the official commercial use of 5G, operators have created a number of 5G scenarios, providing important support for industry transformation and upgrading.
