Chongqing's First Cross-border E-commerce Central Warehouse for Returned Commodities Put into Service

According Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing's first cross-border e-commerce central warehouse for returned commodities located in Lianglu-Cuntan Free Trade Port Area was formally put into service on November 9. Under this new model, "buying and returning at ease" will be a regular bonded service for cross-border e-commerce shopping.

On the morning of November 9, the cross-border e-commerce warehouse in Lianglu-Cuntan Free Trade Port Area saw parcels scanned and piled orderly. They were intercepted and would not be delivered to consumers. "Previously, the returned commodities purchased overseas can only be sent to the South China Warehouse in Zhaoqing, Guangdong, for being destroyed. This cross-border e-commerce warehouse for returned commodities will make it more convenient for consumers to return commodities, and enterprises can sell the qualified commodities again after customs clearance and tax payment", said the head of the Chongqing Warehouse of Vipshop.

"The cross-border e-commerce central warehouse for returned commodities has activated other warehouses in the Zone, saved the delivery and human resources, promoted the circulation of e-commerce commodities, allowed the rapid duty drawback, and improved the return experience of consumers," said the head of Chongqing Gangteng Supply Chain Management.

Tmall, NetEase Kaola, and Vipshop in the zone have launched the return service. As of November 8, the LiangLu Cuntan Customs had inspected and released 34,733 pieces of returned commodities worth 4,914,200 yuan purchased via cross-border e-commerce platforms and returned the import duty of over 540,000 yuan to enterprises, reducing the loss by over 3.2 million yuan. The central warehouse for returned commodities received 17,848 pieces of returned commodities in 26 batches, worth 1,683,100 yuan.

"The cross-border e-commerce central warehouse for returned commodities has minimized the operating cost for enterprises' return service and shortened the time from three days to one day. It will facilitate the forward and reverse logistics of the cross-border e-commerce bonded retail import to form an efficient closed loop." Meng Ziyan, Deputy Director of the Cross-border E-commerce Supervision Department of the LiangLu Cuntan Customs, said, "During the Double Eleven Festival this year, it is expected that Lianglu-Cuntan Free Trade Port Area will see 1.7 million cross-border e-commerce delivery orders, a year-on-year increase of 41.7%."
