Chongqing- The 2020 Chongqing Talents Conference (CQTC) opened in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality Saturday.

The CQTC was hosted by the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and Chongqing Municipal People's Government, and sponsored by the Sichuan Provincial Leading Group on Talent Work.

Tang Liangzhi, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Chongqing delivered a speech. He emphasized that Chongqing is eager to recruit talents. Chongqing is also capable of helping talents to achieve their goals.

“We sincerely look forward to using the Chongqing Talent Conference as a platform for attracting outstanding talents at home and abroad to walk into Chongqing, integrate into Chongqing, and take root in Chongqing,” Tang said. “We invite them to walk with us, and jointly draw up a blueprint for talent-led innovation and innovation-driven development, and work together to promote personal growth and urban development.”

Since the beginning of this year, The China Association for Science and Technology has strongly supported the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing  Economic Circle and jointly established the Urbanization and Regional Innovation Pole Development Research Center with Chongqing Municipal Government, Chongqing University, and Sichuan University.

Meanwhile, the Chongqing Talent Development Research Institute was formed through the collaboration between the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee’s Talent Work Leading Group and Chongqing University, under the support of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and the Chinese Academy of Personnel Science.

After the opening ceremony, keynote speeches were delivered on the development of new crown vaccines and drugs, talent introduction and training, and stimulating talent innovation vitality. Keynote speakers were Arieh Warshel, winner of the 2013 Nobel Prize in Chemistry giving a speech via video, Chen Wei, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and recipient of the "People's Hero" national honorary title, Yu Yingtao, Chairman of Unisplendour Corporation Limited, Lin Zhongqin President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Zeng Heping, representative of Chongqing Outstanding Talents and Dean of Chongqing Research Institute of East China Normal University, and Wang Xiangming, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of China Resources (Holdings) Co., Ltd.

In order to appeal to talents at home and abroad and encourage the innovation and creation of outstanding talents, the Chongqing Outstanding Talent Award was set up. Its first selection was launched this year and 29 winners were selected.

In addition, 401 outstanding talents and 67 outstanding teams were selected for the Chongqing Talents Program this year. The leaders of Chongqing also awarded medals and certificates to the representatives of award-winning talents.
