The Ecological Civilisation Standardisation Cooperation among Market Supervision Authorities of Eleven Provinces and Municipalities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and the Founding Conference of the Yangtze River Economic Belt Ecological Civilisation Standardisation Research Center was held in Chongqing on December 9.

The Ecological Civilization Standardization Cooperation among Market Supervision Authorities of Eleven Provinces and Municipalities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Founding Conference of the Yangtze River Economic Belt Ecological Civilization Standardization Research Center was held in Chongqing.

At the conference, Liu Xuepu, Deputy Director and Deputy Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of the Standing Committee of Chongqing Municipal People's Congress presented the Center's plate.

Also, market supervision authorities of eleven provinces and municipalities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt signed a cooperation memorandum on ecological civilization standardization.

As per the cooperation memorandum, the eleven provinces and municipalities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt will strengthen cooperation in seven aspects.

Specifically, they will make concerted efforts to build an ecological civilization standardization system, formulate ecological civilization standards, set up a local mechanism for international standard introduction, implement standardization pilot demonstration projects, enhance investigation and assessment on ecological civilization standard implementation, improve standard internationalization level, and strengthen service capabilities of standardization technologies.

This way, the fundamental, strategic, and leading role of standardization will be given into full play, and priority will be assigned to ecological conservation in advancing green development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.

The conference decided to establish a joint meeting mechanism for ecological civilization standardization by market supervision authorities of eleven provinces and municipalities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.

More importantly, they also decided to set up the secretariat at Chongqing Institute of Quality and Standardisation. The joint meeting will be held annually and organized alternately by member units.

According to Chen Xiong, Vice Dean of Chongqing Institute of Quality and Standardisation, building a mechanism for ecological civilization standardization research can help synergize forces to share existing resources and advance regional bilateral or multilateral standardization research cooperation, explore the mechanism for the joint formulation, release, implementation, and review of regional and local standards.

Chen believes this will lead to a good atmosphere where ecological civilization standards can be shared and complied with.
