China's Chongqing Implements Three-Category Health Management against COVID-19

Chongqing- There have been no new local COVID-19 confirmed cases for 318 consecutive days and no new local asymptomatic infections for 304 consecutive days in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, local authorities said on January 8.

At the press conference,  Yang Lin, Deputy Director of the General Office of the Municipal Government and Deputy Director of the Comprehensive Office of the Municipal Leading Group for Epidemic Prevention and Control, emphasized the importance of preventing inbound epidemic cases.

The press conference on the prevention and control of the COVID-19 was held by the Information Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government on January 8.

Zhou Yi, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, introduced "14+7+7" health management for overseas arrivals. 

A 14-day quarantine in designated facilities, 7-day home quarantine, and 7-day self-health management will be conducted for inbound passengers from the first day entering the city. During the 7-day self-health management period, no public transportation, gatherings, or closed public places shall be allowed. During the 7-day home quarantine and 7-day self-health management period, any symptoms such as fever and cough should be reported immediately to the community.

Those entering from Chongqing and heading to other provinces, municipalities, or autonomous regions in China must provide valid departure air tickets, bus tickets, and ferry tickets after 14 days of medical observation in designated facilities of Chongqing. Those who cannot provide relevant valid tickets must continue to be quarantined until the specific arrangements for departure from Chongqing are confirmed.

Those who come and return to Chongqing from other ports in China, who have completed 14 days of centralized medical observation in the place of first entry and the entry time is less than 28 days, shall provide proofs of the release of quarantine and negative nucleic acid testing results, a 7-day home quarantine and 7-day self-health management are still required after they coming to Chongqing. Those who are unable to provide the relevant proods, they shall be centralized quarantined for 14 days.

Zhou added that the municipal foreign affairs office would strengthen the closed-loop management among different links, including entry inspection, transshipment, quarantine, and community control.

Furthermore, Zhou mentioned that the environmental disinfection would also be enhanced in every step, specifically on the disinfection of the hotel environment lived by immigrants. People who plan to come to Chongqing from abroad and return to Chongqing should be aware of the city's prevention and control policies and implement prevention and control measures under the requirements.
