Since the Vaccine Administration Law of the People’s Republic of China took effect, Chongqing has been working on data connectivity for its disease control system to coordinate the vaccine management and has succeeded in making it traceable.

Vaccine safety concerns everyone, so smart monitoring is necessary. A competent official from the Chongqing Center for Disease Control and Prevention said that Chongqing has set up a big data center for vaccine management with the vaccine QR code as its core, covering data of units at all levels, staff members, cold chain devices, vaccine distribution, cold chain monitoring, and vaccination services.

Chongqing has been working on data connectivity for its disease control system to coordinate the vaccine management and has succeeded in making it traceable.

"Scanning vaccine QR codes throughout the process effectively eliminates the distribution and use of vaccines from unknown sources, expired vaccines, and faulty vaccines. This has achieved safe and orderly storage, transport and use of an average of annual 10 million doses of vaccines across Chongqing," said the offcial, by virtue of technologies such as the Internet of Things, RFID, and GPS, Chongqing has enhanced its capability of vaccine cold chain information through 24-hour automatic collection, real-time monitoring and active early warning of vaccine temperature.

In terms of smart service, Chongqing Center for Disease Control and Prevention has opened its WeChat official account, which enables the public to have access to services covering vaccination file inquiries, online reservations, self-help personal information registration, vaccination notification, school enrollment vaccination card check, and consultation guidance. A total of 438 vaccination units have opened online reservation services, publishing more than 40,000 notifications and receiving online reservation services for a total of 63,000 persons.

In terms of smart connection, Chongqing is the first to achieve its platform connectivity, data connecting, and regular data uploading with the national collaborative service platform for vaccine traceability and immunization planning information platform. So far, Chongqing's big data center for vaccine management has been totally connected to those two above-mentioned platforms, ranking first domestically in data unloading and uploaded data quality.

Chongqing Center for Disease Control and Prevention has collected vaccine distributing data covering 44 vaccine suppliers, 40 centers for disease control and prevention, 1,350 vaccination units, 156 refrigeration houses for vaccines, 4,626 refrigerators and 51 refrigerated trucks, and managed 46 varieties of vaccines, 240 million vaccine QR codes, more than 6.85 million vaccine recipients' files, more than 14,000 medical staff members, and more than 100 million vaccine service records.
