On January 14, the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity Administrative Bureau and Chongqing Connectivity Initiative Office under Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry held their first working conference in 2021 via video link. According to it, the outline system for the development plan of China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity (CCI) for the next five years and the International Cooperation Planning for the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC) have been prepared and are expected to be reviewed and implemented within the year.

Chongqing China-Singapore Project Administration Bureau will give full play to the CCI's three-level cooperative mechanism and strategic platform advantage.

Specifically, the outline system will continue to explore and advance high-level connectivity at all levels around the theme of "modern connectivity and modern services" and the fields such as financial services, aviation, transportation and logistics, information and communications; the International Cooperation Planning aims to bring the role of ILSTC into better play, pursue the coordinated progress in international cooperation, and let more countries benefit from international trade.

Han Baochang, Director of China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity Administrative Bureau, said that in the past year of 2020, China and Singapore had stood together at the most trying times to fight the COVID-19 pandemic shoulder to shoulder. Meanwhile, the two countries had also maintained close cooperation to ensure constant progress in project cooperation with great momentum. For 2021, he hopes China and Singapore can continue with current close coordination to score even greater cooperation achievements in the new round of CCI implementation.

Tan Lui Hai, Director of Chongqing Connectivity Initiative Office under Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry, said that the two documents would play a guiding role in China-Singapore cooperation in the coming five years. Singapore is willing to work together with Chongqing to get related preparation work done. He then added that ILSTC is an important platform for China and Singapore to deepen bilateral and multilateral economic and trade cooperation. Singapore welcomes other ASEAN countries to participate in ILSTC international cooperation.

The two sides also exchanged views on other priorities, such as further implementing the series consensuses between Chinese and Singaporean leaders and planning together with the next period's key work items.
