Chongqing- On Jan. 21st, Tang Liangzhi, mayor of the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, made a government work report. The report mentions that Chongqing has deeply implemented 10 key projects for rural revitalization, cultivated and developed 10 industrial clusters, and reached 450 billion yuan in the comprehensive output value of modern agriculture.

Chongqing Yunyang County Nixi Town is one of the 18 deep poverty townships in Chongqing. Recently, iChongqing visited the town to witness the story of how they fought the battle against poverty by rural tourism.

The Nixi Three Gorges Agricultural Experience Park is located in the designated ‘Green Village’ of Shigang, Yunyang County, and was established by a team of four successful entrepreneurs led by Mr. Liang Bing to drive rural tourism and increase local household income.

Experiences inside the park are themed on Ancient Ba Country agriculture, which also combines tourism, recreation, accommodation, and catering. Also, there are 115 acres of crisp peaches and 66 acres of winter dates. In the year 2018, the park successfully registered as a 2A tourist resort.

In September 2019, over 7 million yuan was invested in upgrading the facilities, which now offer interactive experiences and agricultural exhibitions through a range of new attractions, including the Impressions Workshop, Farming Proverbs Garden, and the Internet Celebrity Bridge.

Since the Three Gorges Agricultural Experience Park opened in July 2017, it has received over 60,000 visitors and generated an income of more than 5 million yuan.

Local farmers have a stake in the winter date and crisp plum orchards through lease agreements, which pay them 200 yuan per mu (0.165 acres) to use their land. The orchards follow a cooperative model, where rural households retain a 40% stake, the park controls 30%, and the remaining 30% is held by a professional management organization hired to operate the park.

The entire park has reached throughout the village and covers 183 rural households in addition to a further 37 designated as impoverished. The park has driven more than 200,000 yuan in sales of agricultural produce and increased poor households' overall income by over 400,000 yuan.

Thus poverty alleviation in the village has been furthered through employment opportunities, farmland lease agreements, cooperative dividends, and produce sales.
