According to a joint statement by Chongqing Traffic Bureau and China Railway Chengdu Group on January 19, Chongqing North Railway Station has been upgraded and put into operation from January 20. The upgraded station enables passengers to seamlessly transfer railway trains, CRT lines, and buses.

From January 20, the upgraded Chongqing North Railway Station has its first adjusted railway map this year. There are 141 passenger trains, including 122 bullet trains and 19 trains running at normal speeds. On average, about 120,000 people depart from or arrive here every day.

The South Square of the Station has another 9 new ticket windows and one underground transfer hall after its transformation, realizing the seamless transfer of railway traffic and urban public transport. Passengers can take Line 3, Line 10, or loop rail transit lines at the transfer hall, or they can enter the railway waiting hall of the South Square directly through here instead of the ground hall.

Passengers can enter the waiting hall of Chongqing North Railway Station either from the North Square or from the South Square without taking the shuttle bus.

The upgraded railway station makes it more convenient for passengers to drive to Chongqing North Railway Station to pick up and drop off guests, as more than 200 parking spaces for private cars and online ride-hailing cars have been added to the underground parking of the South Square, bringing the total to 434.

In addition, train passengers don't have to receive a second security check when taking CRT lines. Moreover, Chongqing North Railway Station will have a new airport waiting room to realize air-rail intermodal transport. The airport waiting room is expected to be put into use after the 2021 Spring Festival travel rush when passengers can go through procedures for connecting flights.
