Danish Consul General: Possibility for Very Good Cooperation on Climate

Chongqing – During the Chongqing Two Sessions, iChongqing conducted an interview with Mr. Lars Eskild Jensen, Consul General of the Kingdom of Denmark in Chongqing about the Chongqing Two Sessions, the China-EU investment agreement as well as plans for what the consulate general hopes to achieve this year.

Lars was invited to attend live broadcasting of the two sessions at the Chongqing foreign affairs office on Wednesday, to listen to the work report delivered by the mayor of Chongqing Tang Liangzhi.

“I think it is a very positive thing, that China and the EU have agreed to make that investment agreement.” The Consul General spoke of the agreement and also the mission of the Danish representation and their role in Chongqing and Southwest China. “Without any kind of competition, our main activity is to support the economic cooperation between China and Denmark.” However, the Royal Danish Consulate in Chongqing is also involved with a couple of culture-focused projects related to stories from H.C. Anderson and an artist who will do an exhibition in Chongqing later this year.

“There is a possibility for a very good partnership between China and Denmark of reaching our [climate] goals together.” China and Denmark have set goals to become Carbon Neutral before 2060 and 2015 respectively, and the Danish Consul General believes that cooperation between Denmark and China would be beneficial in reaching these goals.
