According to the work report of the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, Chongqing will speed up its efforts to build world-famous tourist destinations, promote the deep integration of culture and tourism, build national demonstration zones for the integrated development of cultural industries and tourism industries, and jointly build the Bashu Cultural Tourism Corridor during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025).

"Dazu, as a hinterland of the coordinated development of Chengdu and Chongqing, as well as an important support for building Bashu Cultural Tourism Corridor, has greatly boosted the market expectations and social expectations and will absolutely inject strong new momentum into high-quality development of Dazu during the 14th Five-Year Plan," said Yu Huiwen, a deputy to the Chongqing Municipal People's Congress and Secretary of the CPC Dazu District Committee.

"Dazu will focus on the discovery and use of its rich cultural relics and cultural resources to enable more people to understand Dazu Rock Carvings with a thousand-year history, thus making them a unique cultural IP domestically and globally."

"This year, Dazu will prioritize its efforts to build Dazu Rock Carvings Cultural Park with high standards. Some cultural tourism projects, including the tourist center of Dazu Rock Carvings and Longshui Lake Resort Area, will be built and put into use," Yu Huiwen told the reporter, "We will make the world heritage (Dazu Rock Carvings) tourism stronger to provide better services in food, accommodation and tour routes, so as to attract new tourists and frequently visited tourists."

In order to make more tourists feel the international consumption atmosphere of Chongqing with local characteristics at Dazu, and to play the role of Dazu in Chongqing's ambition to build itself into an international consumption center, the district will accelerate its efforts to build some high-end commercial projects such as Injoy Plaza and Imix Park to create the first-class business district in Western Chongqing.

According to its 14th Five-Year Plan, Dazu will make decisive progress in building world-famous tourist destinations by 2025 and will achieve a total of 30 billion yuan (c. 4.6 billion US dollars) in tourism revenue, attracting about 50 million tourists.
