After nearly 4 years of restorative construction, part of an old street of Chongqing, Shibati Old Street ( literally means eighteen steps in Chinese) was reopened to the public as a tourist spot.  Visitors can make an appointment to the demonstration area to source some hint of the old-styled life of  Chongqing.

Buildings in Shibati old street are well-proportioned and distinctive in details. Old buildings, including Yanbang Mansion, have been restored with their original location, height, scale, and raw materials. Some valuable old trees, vegetation, and historical fragments have also been preserved.

The traditional style area comprises five functional blocks, A, B, C, D, and E. At present, the main part and exterior of the core area composed of A, B, and C have been basically completed. The main building of D has been topped off, and the construction of E is being accelerated. The core area is expected to be officially opened later this year.

According to the latest plan, each functional block of the traditional style area is divided into "two experience areas and two central areas." Blocks A and B, where the main part of Shibati Old Street is located, are the traditional culture experience areas. Based on Bayu and folklore's traditional culture, they will be built as open culture experience blocks integrating culture and leisure, cultural sightseeing, catering, and accommodation. As planned, they will cover such business types as intangible cultural heritage experience and display, special catering, cultural teahouses, boutiques, etc.

In the traditional culture experience areas, you can appreciate the elements of different eras and places at the museum of culture and art and enjoy a simple and pure journey in the bustling city. Besides, you can also watch the wonderful "Beijing-Sichuan opera combined performances" at Shibati Theater, or stroll in the innovative service experience space with food and culture highly integrated now were used to be a cattle and sheep trading market.

Block C is an experience area of trendsetting Chinese culture and creativity. Supplemented with catering popular online, leisure, and entertainment, it will focus on the inheritance and innovation of traditional handicrafts, the research, and development of the project's special, exquisite products, and the incubation of cultural and creative IP derivatives, so as to display the trendsetting Chinese fashion culture. The experience area owns a travel-themed library, high-end homestays with the theme of trend-setting Chinese culture, a cultural and creative handicraft bazaar, and a snack market popular online.

Block D is oriented to the development of internationally selected food, limited city handicrafts, and business brands for guest reception as the international exchange center.

Block E, a lifestyle center, mainly develops towards a nighttime economy based entertainment gatherings, personalized leisurely life, and immersive performances to build itself as a place to gather trendy music-loving youth.

"The investment reserve rate has reached more than 80%," said Wang Rui, Deputy General Manager of the Shibati Old Street project of Hangzhou Suntiandy Group. Wang added that the investment attraction in the traditional style area is going very well. As of now, hundreds of merchants have signed up, including many well-known domestic and foreign brands such as CMC Inc., Sishu Travel Library, Shibati Theater, TimsCoffeeHouse, KITAYAMA MONOLITH, Wanfu Building, Xiaodongtian Restaurant, etc.
