Chongqing Interview Series | Gong Linna: Looking for the Essence of Chinese Songs

By XINYI LIYILING WANG|Feb 08,2021

Chongqing- Gong Linna, a musician in China, came to public attention with the big hit Uneasy, also known as Tante. Taking Uneasy as an example, the pithy formulas of gong and drum in the Chinese opera are used as lyrics, combining the timbres of opera roles such as Lao Dan, Lao Sheng, Hei Tou, and Hua Dan. In 2006, Uneasy went viral.

Although Gong Linna has been praised by the media for her "ground-breaking songs," this is only part of her life. To get out of the comfort zone, she began to listen to the voice of life. The program, Chongqing Interview Series, interviews Chinese musician Gong Linna about her artistic journey from "uneasy" to "easy."
