The number of high-tech enterprises in Liangjiang New Area reached 506 in 2020, ranking the first in Chongqing. With a growth rate of 24.4%, the new area also reached a new high in the number of high-tech enterprises over the past three years, according to Liangjiang New Area Science and Technology Innovation Bureau on February 3.

More than half of these high-tech enterprises in the new area are in the automobile and electronic information industries, following the development goal and direction of Liangjiang New Area's industrial transformation and upgrading.

"As the pillar industries in Liangjiang New Area, the automobile and electronic information industries have gathered many leading enterprises," said a competent official. "These enterprises attach importance to technological research and achievement transformation, and the relevant new technologies and products could drive the development of upstream and downstream enterprises, which promote the upgrading of the industrial chain." He added, thereby, the marketization of technologies will further enhance the entire industry's technological leadership.

For instance, Chongqing Chang'an New Energy Vehicles Technology Co., Ltd., a representative enterprise in new energy vehicles in the area, passed the high-tech enterprise certification for the first time in 2020. The enterprise has formed the integrated production capacity of 100,000 sets of battery systems and 75,000 sets of three-in-one electric drive systems, successfully supporting the application in listed vehicle models, and the newly developed integrated production line of the all-in-one electric drive system has also started construction.

In 2020, new energy vehicles in Liangjiang New Area accounted for 55% of Chongqing's total, and the output value of the automobile industry increased by 22.8% year on year, showing the remarkable effects of industrial upgrading and transformation.

With the main line of "science and technology innovation + industry", Liangjiang New Area supports and leads the development of industrial clusters with technological breakthroughs, promoting industrial transformation and upgrading, and accelerating the formation of new industrial forms.

"Next, we will be oriented towards the needs of enterprises," said a competent official from Liangjiang New Area Science and Technology Innovation Bureau. "We will actively guide and encourage scientific research institutes in the area to carry out technical research, and innovate ways of cooperation between scientific research institutes and enterprises so that scientific research results can better serve enterprises and the market."
