Chongqing- All 18 poverty-stricken districts and counties in Chongqing were lifted out of poverty in 2020, including 1919 poverty-stricken villages and 1.906 million rural poverty population identified. Chongqing people have won the battle against poverty as expected.
"As a Deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC), my greatest hope is to lead the villagers for common prosperity," said Ran Hui, Deputy to the NPC, Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch of Tianshanbao Village, Taohuayuan Street, Youyang Tujia, and Miao Autonomous County, Director of the Village Committee, and Chairman of the Tianshan People’s Rural Tourism Professional Cooperative.

Over the past few years, Ran has devoted herself to making rural tourism bigger and stronger through using the advantages of geographical resources at Tianshanbao Village, coordinating all kinds of resources, revitalizing idle assets, and pushing for rural reforms. At this year's NPC, she plans to put forward relevant suggestions about how the results of poverty alleviation can be further consolidated, with greater efforts to promote the implementation of rural revitalization.
Ran believes there are still some shortcomings in the current connection between poverty alleviation and rural revitalization. For instance, the relationship between poverty alleviation and rural revitalization is not well-understood in some places, and the two are not integrated into detailed planning, consideration, and interconnection, which could be hard to promote sustainable development in the future.
Furthermore, some policies have not been seamlessly connected and incorporated, with difficulty being applied into reality. She believes that the continuity and cohesion of planning should be enhanced to ensure that agriculture becomes stronger, rural areas become more beautiful, farmers become richer, and rural areas can be fully revitalized.
Meanwhile, Ran thinks it is also necessary to strengthen the construction of rural ideology and morality, and the development of public culture, and implement a social governance structure to link the rule of law, rule of morality, and villager autonomy altogether so that villagers can establish a sense of the rule of law.
She insisted the concept of green development must also be implemented throughout the entire process of rural revitalization, and the “garbage classification” campaign in rural areas must be further encouraged so that that good ecology can be achieved.
