By YULING CHEN|Mar 03,2021

A key event on China's political calendar, the annual sessions of China's national legislature and top political advisory body, known as the "two sessions," will take place in Beijing.

In March, the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) will hold its fourth annual session, and the fourth session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) will be convened.

Thousands of national lawmakers and political advisors will gather for the important political meeting that covers every aspect of China's development and the people's wellbeing.

They are expected to discuss a series of policies and measures, including the 14th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives through the Year 2035.

Every year, the "two sessions" draw worldwide attention.

The assemblies offer journalists the opportunity to put questions to the Chinese premier and ministers.

NPC deputies submit motions and are the voice of the people they represent, while CPPCC National Committee members offer proposals to participate in the deliberation and administration of state affairs.

The "two sessions" are a window to observe China's development and deemed as an embodiment of the vitality of socialist democracy with Chinese characteristics.

Not only are the "two sessions" crucial to China, but they also impact the wider world.
