Chongqing Launches Spring Tourism Season with 80 Places to View Flowers

Chongqing - Following last year's "Extremely Close and Incredibly Beautiful" tourism campaign, the city's culture and tourism authority will launch the 2021 Spring Tourism Season with more than 80 flower-viewing tourist spots and over 150 cultural activities, according to a press conference of the Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Commission held in the northeastern Dianjiang County on Thursday.

The various flower-viewing festivals and events have always been among the city's major tourist attractions during the Spring festival. While this year's spring tourism season features more than 80 designated flower-viewing scenic spots for tourists and residents to spend their weekends.

For those of you interested in tree peonies, tulips, cherry blossoms, and Chinese peonies, consider taking a brief spring break at the Taishiya Forest Park in Shapingba District, the West Suburban Flower Valley in Tongliang District, the Kaizhi Mountain Scenic Area, and the Peony Cherry Flowers World Scenic Area in Dianjiang County, as well as the Jinfo Mountain Scenic Area in Nanchuan District.

If you are more into rapeseed flowers, try the Xipeng Town, Xinmin Village in Jiulongpo District, and the Guangyang Island in Nan'an District. Around this time of the year, plum flowers are also blooming in Qianjiang District's Zhongtang Town, Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County's Yandong Heba Village, and Wushan County's Ganyuan Village of Quchi Township.

There are also plenty of places to go for pear blossom-enthusiasts, such as the Yongxin Pear Blossom Mountain in Qijiang District, the Huanggua Mountain in Yongchuan District, and the Wuhe Pear Blossom Garden in Wansheng Economic and Technological Development Zone. And for peach blossoms, too, people can go to the Peach Getaway Sightseeing Park in Rongchang District, the Shengshui Lake, Peach Blossom Island in Yongchuan District, the Binfen Ranges, and Huoguo Mountains in Zhongxian County.

Other than the various places to see beautiful flowers, Chongqing counties and districts also have about 150 thematic activities to offer, aiming to integrate each county and district's unique local culture and tourism resources into the overall citywide spring tourism season campaign.

Dianjiang County will host its 22nd peony culture festival and 12th plum flower rural tourism festival; Fuling District will host its 7th plum flower festival; Nanchuan District will organize a Jinfo Mountain Azalea Festival; Liangping District will host its 9th pomelo flower festival; Tongnan District will host its 14th rapeseed flower festival.

While at the same time, Wangsheng Economic and Technological Development Zone will organize an "Intangible Cultural Heritages in Scenic Areas" exhibition; Jianjiang District will also host a similar exhibition featuring intangible cultural heritages and time-honored brands; Shizhu County will host its 7th rural tourism culture festival; Tongjiang District will organize a Chinese dragon and lion dance competition.
