The 9th International Day of Forests on March 21, 2021, follows the theme of "Forest restoration: a path to recovery and well-being". Chongqing Forestry Bureau planned to introduce and recommend online some health maintenance bases in Sichuan and Chongqing for the public's attention to, travel in, and benefits from forests.

These bases lie in Chongqing's Shizhu County, Fairy Mountain of Wulong District, Banan District, Nantian Lake of Fengdu County, Jiuchongtian Scenic Spot of Fengdu County, and Chengkou County, as well as Sichuan's Yuping Mountain of Meishan City, Haizi Mountain of Ya'an City, Zhuoshan Mountain of Ya'an City, and Southern Sichuan Bamboo Sea of Yibin City.

"Health maintenance bases in Nantian Lake and Jiuchongtian Scenic Spot of Fengdu County embrace alpine karst lakes, pristine forests, alpine wetlands, and grassy oases. At Nantian Lake, a wide expanse of mist-covered waters can be seen on its plank road, a journey through the mountains can be enjoyed on a mini-train, and a landscape of the lake and mountains can be watched by boat." The relevant head of Chongqing Forestry Bureau introduced that they also recommended some bases in Sichuan to advance the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and boost the ecotourism and the forest-based health maintenance industry in the two places.

Among them, the base at Haizi Mountain was known as "a land of idyllic beauty". It possesses beautiful alpine lakes, spectacular grassland, flourishing flowers, and fantastic stone forests, covering an area of about 200 hectares.

With a forest coverage rate of 52.5%, Chongqing covers a forestry area of about 4,329,333 hectares. It has built 85 forest parks, 26 wetland parks, 36 scenic spots, and 10 geoparks above the municipal level, as well as 31 forest-themed health maintenance bases of various types, 1,750 green exemplary villages, and more than 3,750 forest homes.

Sichuan covers a forestry area of about 19,466,667 hectares, with a forest coverage rate of 40.03%. The province boasts more than 500 nature reserves, scenic spots, forest parks, wetland parks, and geoparks, as well as four national forest-themed health maintenance bases, 52 national pilot construction units of forest-themed health maintenance bases, and 1,657 star-rated forest homes.

The forest-themed health maintenance, based on the ecological environment, aims for public health. By virtue of such resources as forests, landscapes, food & medicine, and culture, it provides services in health care, recuperation, retirement life, and experience-based education. Vigorously developing the forest-based health maintenance industry and making reasonable use of forest resources are effective ways and concrete measures to practice the concept that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets.

Therefore, Chongqing and Sichuan are fully utilizing their features in natural resources, forest landscapes, and regional cultures to develop characteristic forest-themed health maintenance services based on their own advantages in these above-mentioned aspects, so as to offer the masses ideal places for relaxation, health care, recuperation and experience-based study on weekends.
