Chongqing Rail Transit, More Than Just House-Crossing At Liziba Station

By TRUMAN PENG|Apr 09,2021

Chongqing - The southwestern mountain city of Chongqing has been widely recognized as a social media favorite for a list of reasons, among which is the infamously well-known Liziba Subway Station built inside a residential building. Many domestic and international tourists have swarmed the scenic area hot spot to wait and take pictures of a monorail passenger train running right through the building complex.

Liziba also attracted many tourists from all over the world every year. (iChongqing File Photo)

However, many other Chongqing Rail Transit (CRT) stations share just as much uniqueness and characteristics as the Liziba station. Here, bring you a list of CRT stations in Chongqing that we find equally or even more beautiful than Liziba.

No. 4: Japanese Fresh Style "Daxigou Station"

The Daxigou Station of CRT Line 2 sits on the Jialing Riverside Road's edge in Yuzhong District. Its main design concept and straddle monorail technologies all give a Japanese Metropolitan vibe, which encourages tons of fervent social media users to come and shoot short videos here. The Japanese company of Hitachi is said to have been the technical support provider for Line 2.

No. 3: Dimension-Breaking "Haitangxi Station"

The Haitangxi Station got its name from the famous Haitang Yanyu scenic spot on Nanbin Road, one of the "Bayu Twelve Scenic Areas." With the Yuzhong Penisula and the "twin towers" of the Sheraton Hotel Chongqing and the Crown International on its back, the CRT station witnesses the city's rapid development. Looking out the window of a running train, which emerges from the natural daylight into the shadow of modern neon light, you could easily get the impression of time-traveling in a multi-dimensional space.

No. 2: Green Oxygen Forest "Xiaolongkan Station"

The Xiaolongkan Station of the CRT Line 1 is the first graffiti-decorated metro station in China. Also, it boasts the country's largest and highest single arch structure on a metro platform. As you step out of the train, you'll be greeted with a picturesque "green forest" bubble featuring dark green treetops, light green tree leaves, light yellow flowers, and a blue and green dome.

No. 1: Largest Indoor Graffiti "Lieshimu Station"

Only three stops away from Xiaolongkan Station, the Lieshimu Station of CRT Line 1 boasts a 5,000-square-meter graffiti space, by far the largest indoor graffiti art decoration structure in China. Lieshimu, as its name indicates, is also a living record book documenting Chongqing's past as the capital city of China under the Nationalist forces of Chiang Kaishek during the Japanese invasion after Beijing and then Nanjing had fallen. The wings-spreading eagles soaring into the blue sky, the riverside skyscrapers along the Jialing and Yangtze rivers and the moving figures showing local Chongqing people's daily lives have all but demonstrated the infinite charisma and energy of the city.
