Liangjiang New Area enjoys ten vehicle companies, including Chang'an Automobile, Saic-Iveco Hongyan, Beijing Hyundai Motor, and over 200 core supporting companies, which constitute complete industrial and supply chains. From January to March of 2021, the new area's output value of the automobile industry doubled, seeing a growth rate of 130%.

Li Shun, a member of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Party Work Committee and Deputy Director of Liangjiang New Area Administrative Committee, introduced that Liangjiang New Area is encouraging the automobile industry to become more intelligent connected and new energy-powered, based on an intelligent, green, branding, and integrated development path.

The Area has been approved to establish a state-level Internet of Vehicles pilot zone. Next, it will attempt to integrate the automobile with modern communication and network technologies, focusing on improving the intelligent information interaction related to people, automobiles, roads, and back-end platforms and decision-making ability.

Also, the Area is stimulating vehicle companies to expedite the development of high-end new energy vehicles (NEVs), especially battery and extended-range electric vehicles. Meanwhile, it encourages them to develop hybrid electric vehicles. Relying on NEV industrial parks, the Area will deepen the innovative cooperation with Contemporary Amperex Technology and Bosch Group in battery research, research and development of intelligent connected NEVs, charging modes, environmental construction, and trip plans.

Moreover, Liangjiang New Area is about to drive the high-quality development of core spare parts. On the one hand, it endeavors to achieve breakthroughs in automotive electronics chips, vehicle-mounted visual solutions, laser radars, millimeter-wave radars, intelligent chassis, and other incremental components.

On the other hand, it helps companies engaging in spare parts to accelerate transformation, upgrade products, and strengthen quality brand construction, based on the existing spare part-related supporting systems, to involve these companies in the industrial transformation and upgrading.

Li said the world's manufacturing industry faces major changes and racing towards a digital, connected, intelligent, service-oriented, and green future.

Liangjiang New Area will combine producer services with the manufacturing industry, further enable the Industrial Internet, big data, and smart manufacturing to empower traditional industries, and scientifically coordinate the key materials and steps on the industrial and supply chains.

Serving as the most vital production base of intelligent terminals globally, Liangjiang New Area has basically formed the industrial clusters of "integrated circuit + new display." From January to March, the Area's electronic industry celebrated a year-on-year growth of 40.7%, powered by BOE Technology Group, Chongqing Alpha & Omega Semiconductor, Laibao Hi-Tech, and other leading companies.

Besides, Liangjiang New Area welcomed 27 core supporting companies, including Corning Display Technologies (Chongqing), Lianchuang Electronics, Dongjin Semichem, Air Liquide (Chongqing), and Sumitomo Chemical. Therefore, it has shaped a complete industrial chain covering glass substrate, precision injection molding, precision stamping, optical films, backlights, light guide plates, and bulk gases.

Exploring core technologies in the new display industry, Liangjiang New Area will plan to conduct theoretical and application studies on such cutting-edge technologies like quantum dots and printing OLED screens while driving research institutes, new material production companies, and major application units to develop key generic technologies jointly.
