Sichuan Province and Chongqing Municipality in southwestern China will join hands to build city clusters with the kilomega optical fiber broadband service in the Chengdu-Chongqing area and coordinate the layout of large-scale cloud computing and edge computing data centers, according to a work plan released by Sichuan Communications Administration and Chongqing Communications Administration on April 1.

This year, Sichuan and Chongqing will further their cooperation in the information and communications industry. In particular, the two sides will continue to promote the integration of their communication service fees and strengthen coordination in terms of plan design and service contents.

In addition, the construction and application of 5G networks will be steadily promoted, and priority will be given to the deployment of 5G networks around the north, middle and south lines and the main axis of Chengdu-Chongqing High-Speed Railway. They will also fully advance the kilomega optical fiber broadband service coverage to construct city clusters with the Chengdu-Chongqing area service.

The Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) will expedite the next-generation Internet's deployment and strive for integrated cloud-network resources and service capacities. Besides, they are slated to coordinate the layout of large-scale cloud computing and edge computing data centers in the areas with concentrations of production factors and resources and coordinated industrial development along the axis of Chengdu-Chongqing High-Speed Railway.

Building urban intelligent perception networks, Sichuan and Chongqing plan to support the construction of innovative application scenarios such as smart transportation and intelligent waterways and ports and explore the construction of dedicated 5G networks for the Internet of Vehicles. They will also build the industrial Internet identification and resolution system and facilitate the construction of 13 second-level nodes of the industrial Internet in Chengdu and Chongqing's main industries.

In the governance of telecom fraud, the feature database and blacklist sharing will be strengthened. Furthermore, they will jointly apply for national cybersecurity pilot demonstration projects to develop the cybersecurity industry.
