Chongqing - On April 14, iChongqing conducted an exclusive interview with Akram Zeynalli, H.E. Ambassador of Azerbaijan to China. It is the 3rd time for Mr. Zeynalli to visit Chongqing. In February 2018, Mr. Zeynalli visited Chongqing as a member of the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) Embassy Delegation in China. In December 2019, Mr. Zeynalli was invited to Chongqing to attend the third meeting of the AsiaInfo Non-Government Forum.

In this interview, Mr. Zeynalli stated that Chongqing is a rapidly developing city with a huge potential for cooperation, and in the morning of the same day, he has signed MOU with mayor Tang Liangzhi for cooperation between Chongqing and Azerbaijan in different fields such as university exchanges, tourism activities, and cultural events that planned to be held in the next year, which to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Azerbaijan. In addition, the direct flight between Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, and Chongqing, has been discussed as well. 

In 2020, Chongqing's exports to Azerbaijan reached 99.48 million yuan with an increase of 61.2%. The major export commodities were 23,000 laptops with an increase of 67.3%. Mr. Zeynalli suggested that Azerbaijan's agricultural products are great and he hoped they could enter the Chinese market soon. He also added that they want to open a trade house for Azerbaijan's products in China, and he had a discussion with Mayor Tang about the possibility of the Yuxin'ou (China-Europe Railway Express)'s route reach Azerbaijan.
