Chongqing - On April 23, China (Chengdu and Chongqing)-Hungary Innovation Cooperation Conference was held in the CAST iValley. The Chongqing Science and Technology Bureau and the Hungarian Ministry of Innovation and Technology signed the "China (Chongqing)-Hungary Science and Technology Innovation Strategy Memorandum of Understanding," 7 items for the Chengdu-Chongqing regions and Hungary's innovative cooperation projects have signed on-site, which will be promoted by the two parties to achieve high-level cooperation.

The technological achievements of both parties will be transferred and transformed in both directions

At the meeting, the two parties reached agreements that they will uphold the principle of extensive consultation, joint construction, and sharing, and deepen scientific and technological exchanges and jointly build joint laboratories (Research Center), carry out joint research on basic disciplines and applied technologies, and promote the two-way transfer and transformation of technological achievements between China and Hungary. Improving the mutually beneficial sharing of scientific and technological innovation resources and achievements in the meanwhile.

The conference organized the signing of 7 innovative cooperation projects between the Chengdu-Chongqing region and Hungary and displayed and promoted 27 scientific and technological achievements projects in the Chengdu-Chongqing region and Hungary via an "online + offline" approach.

The Hungarian Palinka (national spirit/wine)  Chinese-Hungarian Cooperative Research Center at Southwest University was officially unveiled on the same day. The Visegrad Group (V4 countries, including Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia) – Chengdu and Chongqing innovative cooperation roundtable was held simultaneously, and a regional cooperation agreement was reached.

Chongqing-Hungary has a great cooperation base and future potential

China-Hungary friendship has a long history. In recent years, relations between the two countries have developed at a high level. After the outbreak of the COVID-19, the two countries have actively carried out anti-epidemic cooperation, which turned on a new chapter in China-Hungary friendly cooperation.

Pesti Máté, Hungary Ambassador to China, indicated in his opening remarks that China has been the biggest trade partner outside Europe. Chongqing and Hungary have a great cooperation foundation with 3 projects listed in priority cooperation for China-Hungary joint construction of the One Belt One Road Initiative. China-Hungary Technology Transfer Center is developing well with 20 signed projects. The two sides have jointly built a bridge of friendship, cooperation, and development, and there is a broad space for cooperation and development potential with Chongqing in the field of scientific and technological innovation. China-Hungary Technology Transfer Center settled 2 offices in Chongqing and Budapest to provide a good platform for promoting the cooperation. It is hoped that both sides will use this platform as an opportunity to conduct fruitful communication and establish mutually beneficial cooperative relations, said Pesti.
