Tanzania Economic & Trade Cooperation Seminar held in Chongqing

Chongqing, China-Tanzania Economic & Trade Cooperation Seminar was held on April 28. As a city accelerating to build the international communication center of central and western China, Chongqing hopes to deepen further the cooperation with Tanzania in economics and trade, culture and tourism, etc.

In recent years, China-Tanzania's economic and trade cooperation has become increasingly close. China has become Tanzania's biggest trading partner, the largest engineering contractor, and the main source of investment. The cooperation between the two countries has been reflected in various fields of Tanzania's economic development. In addition, Tanzania is also an important economic, trade, and humanities exchange partner of Chongqing. The two sides have long been committed to friendly cooperation and achieved remarkable results, especially the Chinese Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center led by Chongqing Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Morogoro region, Tanzania, which has built a bridge to consolidate the friendship and drive Chinese enterprises to develop in Tanzania.

Mbelwa Kairuki, ambassador of Tanzania to China, attended this seminar and expressed the willingness of Tanzania to work hand in hand with China to promote economic cooperation in the postCOVID era. Tanzania has three key factors required by any investor - security, market and efficient logistics. With the COVID-19 epidemic under control and the permissive political-economic environment, they are ready to start trade flows with Chongqing and the world. Enterprises from Chongqing are very welcome to come to Tanzania and find investment opportunities.

“Tanzania's business environment offers a predictable, transparent, and reliable long-term proposition,” said Mr. Kairuki, “With the existing cordial relations between our countries, I am sure that we can increase the investment and the volume of trade many times with Chinese business.”

In the following sessions, Qian Zhaogang, Executive Chairman of Chongqing Import and Export Chamber of Commerce, introduced the experience of Chongqing in participating in cooperation with Africa. Li Hang, the Tanzanian Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, introduced the tourism resources of Tanzania, and representatives from Chongqing’s enterprises shared their experience of experiences of investment and cooperation in Tanzania.
