Qamdo Cultural Tourism Hall Brings Authentic Tibetan Experiences to Chongqing

Chongqing- The opening ceremony for the Qamdo Cultural Tourism Hall was held in Yubei District Chongqing on May 1st, 2021. The occasion was marked by unveiling speeches from guests explaining how the people of Chongqing can learn more about the upcoming travel destination of Qamdo Prefecture in Tibet.

Located in the eastern reaches of Tibet close to Sichuan, Qamdo welcomes tourists to experience the wealth of tourism resources, including the famed azure skies, emerald lakes, snow-capped peaks, and rich Tibetan culture and architecture.

In attendance was Li Shifeng, party secretary of the Qamdo Prefecture Tourism and Development Bureau, who addressed to promote the attractions of Chamdo, congratulate the restaurant on its grand opening, and express his wishes that the people of Chongqing can understand more about the Tibetan prefecture.

The Qamdo (Chongqing) Cultural Tourism Hall is a base for innovative tourism cooperation between Qamdo and Chongqing, where they can hold deep and meaningful exchange for the peoples of each region.

In recent years, Qamdo has actively promoted the integration and development of the cultural tourism industry centered around tourism, as it gradually becomes the pillar industry supporting economic development in the prefecture.

The hall will integrate online and offline travel consulting services, tourism contracting, Tibetan-style culinary experiences, a VR experience for Qamdo travel, Khampa culture, and culturally innovative products for exhibition and sale.

Lamu explained one of her greatest motivations for opening the Zhuozhuo Tibetan Banquet, which is for people in Chongqing to experience the food and culture of her native Chamdo. She said, "My main wish is for people interested in Tibet but lacking the opportunity to travel there and feel what my beautiful hometown is like without leaving Chongqing."
