Chongqing- The countdown has begun! From May 20-23rd, the 3rd Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT) will be held in Chongqing. Themed on Going West and Deliberating the Future, a range of events including conferences, exhibitions, competitions, and discussions have been organized.

In this year’s edition of WCIFIT, the guest of honor countries are Colombia, Vietnam, and Indonesia, who will join Sichuan Province, Yunnan Province, and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. So what can we expect to see from guests of honor exhibitions this year?

Specialty products

The WCIFIT has been organized to implement the policy decisions and deployments of the central government to accelerate the formation of a new development pattern in the western region, which is of great significance to promoting high-quality development.

At the same time, the fair will provide greater opportunities for international cooperation, allowing Western China to make an important contribution to recovery and growth in the world economy.

Many countries and regions will once again actively participate in WCIFIT as the event focuses attention worldwide. In particular, countries along the New International Western Land-Sea Corridor (ILSTC) and the Belt and Road will see a high degree of participation.

Guest of honor countries Colombia, Vietnam, and Indonesia will showcase their specialty products through exhibition displays. The Colombia Exhibition Area is set to feature top products, including coffee, fine wines, quinoa, dark chocolate, mango, jam, and vegetable oils.

The Vietnam Exhibition Area will display coffee, durian cake, dried longan, cashew nuts and so on.

Indonesian bird nest is a well-known specialty product worldwide, and so the Indonesian display will showcase a wide variety in different quality grades and sizes among other products, such as coffee.

Visitors will be delighted to learn these products on exhibition will be available for taste sampling, experience, and purchase.

Multi-modal rail transport offered by ILSTC has radiated influence across 304 ports in 105 countries. While this channel has realized the import of fruits and rice from Southeast Asia, ever more specialty products of Chongqing have also become increasingly available as they are exported to Vietnam, Indonesia, and other countries.

Provincial wonders of Guangxi and Yunnan

The provinces of Sichuan, Yunnan, and Guangxi will be guests of honor at WCIFIT this year, with Guangxi and Yunnan having already participated in the event last year.

The Guangxi Exhibition Area will be divided into eight major sectors, including ILSTC. In addition, well-known enterprises based in Guangxi will bring unique industrial exhibits for display.

Additionally, Guangxi will hold a special promotional conference on the topic of ‘serving the ILSTC and promoting western region development. The aims will be to deepen practical cooperation between Guangxi, Chongqing, and the southwest region and jointly discuss construction and sharing of new land-sea channels.

Yunnan Province has a total of 99 projects for attracting investment in fields such as cultural tourism, energy, medicine, health, manufacturing, processing, and green produce.

Provincial departments will mainly promote 19 key projects such as the non-ferrous metal and new materials industrial park.

These projects mainly cover the industries of new materials, agricultural information, precious metal smelting, and biomedicine.

In addition, Yunnan will host the Yunnan Multinational Enterprise Cooperation Seminar and Yunnan Investment and Cooperation Promotion Conference to seek cooperation opportunities through the WCIFIT platform.

Sichuan Province will focus on the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle through four major areas in talent, opening up, innovation, and natural endowment. There will be experiences available in equipment manufacturing, electronic information, reform, opening up, innovation, technology, and cultural tourism, representing the latest achievements in Sichuan Province across multiple fields. At the same time, displays will allow visitors to admire park cities and beautiful scenery in the Sichuan Exhibition Hall.
