2021 China Wuling Culture and Tourism Summit to Pool Neighboring Provinces' Tourism Resources

Chongqing -  The 2021 China Wuling Mountain Culture and Tourism Summit will debut at the Wulong Fairy Mountain Scenic Area from May 26 to 28, according to a recent joint press conference of the Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Commission and the Wulong District People's Government.

The summit is Chongqing's first-ever culture and tourism event to boost overall popularity and promote the integrated development of the tourism resources in the Wuling Mountain area, which incorporates part of the neighboring Hubei, Hunan, and Guizhou provinces.

"The 2021 China Wuling Mountain Culture and Tourism Summit is both a platform for academic exchanges and an occasion for tourism resources exhibition," said Liu Qi, party chief and director of the Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Commission. “The event is very eyecatching and bears special significance in accelerating regional collaboration among the culture and tourism authorities of Chongqing, Guizhou, Hunan, and Hubei."

This is also the first time for the four provincial-level governments to join hands and discuss their tourism resources' future integrated development strategies in the Wuling Mountain area. In addition, the summit will invite many government officials responsible for culture and tourism, leading industry leaders and entrepreneurs, scholars, and experts to pool their wisdom and draw from each other's experiences and lessons in developing the tourism industry.

Attending this summit are such prominent figures as Dai Bin, president of the China Tourism Academy (Data Center of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism) Dai Bin, Shan Qixiang, former curator of the Palace Museum, Shao Qiwei, vice president of the International Mountain Tourism Alliance, Tsinghua University Professor Xiong Chengyu, and the former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Benin Diao Mingsheng.

Guests from the relevant ministries and commissions, centrally-management SOEs, democratic parties, foreign consulates-general in Chongqing and Chengdu, famous culture and tourism organizations, universities and research institutions, as well as officials from the 73 county-level governments and 11 prefecture-level governments, and representatives of various levels of culture and tourism authorities, will also attend the summit.

"The intangible cultural heritages and special products in selected scenic spots of the Wuling Mountain area will also be displayed at the various exhibitions held alongside the main summit," said Hu Zhenqiang, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Wulong District Committee and standing vice mayor of the Wulong District People's Government, during the press conference. 

"These exhibitions will feature the folk cultures, special building techniques, and ethnic elements of the Wuling Mountain area, and make a collective appearance of the culture and tourism resources of the four provinces and municipality."
