Chongqing - The Chongqing Sports Meeting, the city's largest comprehensive sports game with the highest level and standard, is returning for the 6th edition in Yongchuan District on the evening of May 18, according to Monday's press conference of the Municipal Administration of Sport.

Like the summer Olympics, the sports game is also held every four years and has been one of the most anticipated sports events among the city's teenage and adult athletes ever since the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hosted by the Municipal People's Government and organized by the Chongqing Administration of Sport and the Yongchuan District People's Government, this year's event features 14 programs for the adult group and 27 programs for the teenage group, with the three additional performance programs of gymnastics, breakdance, and aerobics.
A total of 888 medals will be awarded to the winning athletes of some 55 competition programs, of which 48 have already concluded since the first match kicked off on March 1. The remaining games shall be completed by May 30.

The city's 41 administrative regions, including 38 counties and districts and three economic development zones, as well as the three organizations of Chongqing Vanguard Sports Association, Chongqing Tax Service, and CCEGC, will send delegations to participate in the sports games.
The 6th Chongqing Sports Meeting has received a total registration of more than 10,000 athletes, team leaders, and coaches, with ages of participating athletes ranging from 6 years old, for ice hockey, to 77 years old, for the bridge card game.
As of May 16, 47 registered athletes hold a total of 129 Chongqing municipal sports game records, and 43 of which have been acknowledged as a form of bonus points for the relevant record-holding participants.

Since the city's establishment as the first of China's four municipalities directly under the Central Government in 1997, Chongqing has successfully held the sports game for five consecutive editions, with the first three being held in downtown Chongqing, the fourth in Wanzhou District, and the fifth in Fuling District.
