Chongqing- The 3rd Western International Conference Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT) will be held from May 20^th to 23^rd. How are the key projects signed at the previous two editions of the WCIFIT going? 

Largest food-grade PET polymer production base 

At the first WCIFIT held in 2018, Zhejiang Wankai New Materials Co., Ltd, one of China’s top 500 private enterprises, contracted with Fuling District, Chongqing. The appointment achieved implementing a new materials project that can produce 1.2 million tons of food-grade PET polymer per year at Fuling Longqiao Industrial Park.

The product is widely used as the raw material for food packaging. With a total investment of about 3.6 billion yuan and a total land area of about 635 mu, the project will be completed in two phases.

On March 25^th last year, the food-grade PET polymer material project with an annual output of 600,000 tons at Chongqing Wankai Phase 1 has been officially put into production.

According to the plan, Zhejiang Zhink Group Co., Ltd. will build the largest production base of food-grade PET polymer globally at Fuling Longqiao Industrial Park.

The second phase is under construction. It is expected to be put into operation at the end of this year, where its production capacity will be 1.2 million tons, said a responsible person at the company.

Smart factory of new energy vehicles 

Chongqing Jinkang New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd., situated at Yufu Industrial Park of Liangjiang New Area, signed an agreement at the first WCIFIT.

According to the agreement, with an investment of 3.5 billion yuan (about 542.85 million U.S. dollars), the company needs to produce 50,000 pure electric passenger vehicles per year.

The first batch of new energy electric passenger vehicles was put on the market in April 2019.

Within the company, there are quite a few cool-tech devices in the smart factory, including about 800 robots in the workshops for stamping, welding, painting, final assembly, battery packing, and charging testing, all of which are to assist the implementation of high automation.

Furthermore, few workers are on the production line, except for some for simple logistics and cleaning. The whole production line features the cooperation of robots, and the process of welding and gluing has achieved full automation.

This further makes the production process more controllable and reduces the manual intervention of the production line.

Lithium-ion batteries with high energy density

As a major project signed at the first WCIFIT and invested by Zhuhai CosMX Battery Co., Ltd., the smart manufacturing project of lithium-ion batteries with high energy density was launched at Wansheng Economic and Technological Development Zone.

With a total investment of four billion yuan, the project will produce about 220 million lithium batteries for the computer, communication, and consumer electronics manufacturing industry and 4.4 GWH of power lithium batteries every year, packing 800,000 lithium batteries every day.

According to the Head of Chongqing CosMX Battery Co., Ltd., the project's first three factories and the 1st phase of the fourth factory have been in operation. The 2nd and 3rd phases will be put into operation this year.

At present, the project's 5th factory, the packing factory, and the dormitory are still under construction. The number of employees has exceeded 5,900.

The lithium-ion batteries with high energy density can achieve an annual output value of 10 billion yuan and offer more than 5,000 jobs, which is of great significance for advancing the high-quality transformation and development of Wansheng.
