Western Tourism Industry Expo, Chongqing Int’l Tourism Industry Expo to Merge

Chongqing - The 7th Western China Tourism Industry Expo & 2021 Chongqing International Culture and Tourism Industry Expo will be held at the Chongqing International Expo Center from June 11 to 14, merging the annual CICTIE event and biannual WTE event together for the first time, according to a press conference of the Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Commission on Monday.

With a theme of "Culture and Tourism Integration Makes Life Wonderful," the exhibition aims to provide a holistic view of Chongqing and display the new development looks of domestic and international culture and tourism industries 66,000-square-meter-stretching exhibition area.

Other than the thousands of culture and tourism enterprises showcasing their various products and services, there will also be special exhibition booths allocated for local counties and districts in Chongqing, nearly 30 domestic provinces, municipalities, and regions in China, and the South Korean, Israeli, Japanese, Italian, and Ethiopian consulates in Chongqing and Chengdu.

This year's event will take the new "Online+Offline" exhibition pattern, fully tapping on the advantages of online exhibitions to provide a 24hours/365days virtual exhibition hall that features cloud exhibition, sales-promotion live streaming, online registration, and extensive publicity.

Free and discounted tickets and preferential coupons to the city's popular tourist destinations, such as the national AAAAA and AAAA levels of scenic spots, star hotels, and hot springs, will also be distributed to the expo's participants via the Chongqing Culture and Tourism Consumption Season Campaign platform.

Aside from the main exhibitions, thematic forums and summits, cultural performances, interactive shows will also be staged during the four days.

The Western China Digital Culture and Tourism Industry Development Forum will invite Asian Tourism Industry Annual Conference Bai Changhong, Tencent Holdings Vice President Rita Zeng, to discuss the digital tourism industry's latest trends and development paths.

Dozens of matchmaking conferences among nearly 30 provincial-level culture and tourism authorities will be held, including the Global Tourism destination Promotional Conference and the Global Travel Agency Chongqing Tour event.

Red tourism, or revolutionary tourism, and intangible cultural heritage (ICH) tourism will also be keywords of the upcoming expo, which aim to better educate the public on the glorious revolutionary history of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and further to promote the ICH items and programs of Chongqing.

What's more, the expo will set up another exhibition area dedicated to digital entertainment and anime elements, which has already attracted hundreds of well-known enterprises like the CCTV Animation Group, video-sharing platform Bilibili, and Perfect World.
