China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity Administrative Bureau recently signed a cooperation agreement on co-building emerging industries with Chongqing Tongnan District People's Government.

As the first cooperation and co-building agreement signed between the Bureau and a local government at the district or county level, the two parties will give full play to their respective advantages in policies, resources, and other aspects in the process of cooperation.

The two parties will also make joint efforts to build the China-Singapore (Tongnan) Green, Circular, Intelligent, and Low-carbon Demonstration Industrial Park to promote agglomeration of green and low-carbon enterprises from Singapore and other countries and facilitate high-quality economic development of Tongnan District.

China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity (CCI) is a high-level opening-up platform of Chongqing.

Since CCI was implemented, it has promoted economic and trade cooperation, enhanced the cultural exchange between Chongqing and Singapore, made remarkable achievements in building channels, and took full advantage of its platform functions. CCI has also helped to form a new pattern from Chongqing-Singapore cooperation to western China-ASEAN cooperation.

As of the end of May 2021, the Bureau has completed contract signing of 118 cooperation projects of various kinds, with a total amount of approximately USD 21.4 billion and 167 cross-border financing projects, with a financing amount of approximately USD 15.1 billion.

"This is the first cooperation and co-building agreement signed between the Bureau and local government. It is an important measure of CCI to turn a new chapter in the second five-year period," said Peng Zhiming, deputy director of the Bureau.

Located in the hinterland of the Chengdu-Chongqing region, Tongnan District boasts a superior location as a portal. It is regarded as the key area for deepening cooperation between Chengdu and Chongqing.

According to the agreement signed, the Bureau and Tongnan District will cooperate in the advanced manufacturing industry, modern agriculture, educational hygiene, financial cooperation, and talent training.
