The event invited foreign friends to learn how to cook the intangible cultural heritage - Bishan diced rabbit on Hanlin Manor Bishan. First, they were taught to weigh the species with a steelyard such as dried hot pepper, dried Sichuan pepper, and garlic. Then, they peeled some garlic cloves, put them together with ginger in a special bowl for smashing, and mixed the smashed garlic and ginger with vinegar, hot chili oil, water, and other things. Next, they learned how to slash the rabbit, which is the bull's eye of the specialty dish. Finally, they drenched the diced rabbit with the concoction. In this way, a well cooked and presented dish was made. Moreover, they also learned how to make Zongzi; a traditional Chinese rice pudding people eat on the day of the Dragon Boat Festival. As everyone tried awkwardly to make the reed leaves fold up perfectly, "not leaking rice" became their first goal.
As the former site of Wang Zhuo, a member of the Imperial Academy during the Qing Dynasty, Hanlin Manor enjoys a history of more than 150 years. Inside, black bricks and tiles, red woodware, and white walls can be seen. Outside, there is a tranquil and peaceful fishpond. The black tiles and the white walls are well arranged and go together perfectly from a distance.
Wang Zhuo's calligraphy works take pride in the central room, with his poems and couplets being seen from ridgepoles to gate posts. Moreover, the manor owner also showed his private collection of some classic poem works for appreciation. Guided by Liu Wei, director of Chongqing Dayuanxiang Museum, dozens of foreign friends from Russia, Ukraine, Spain, the Netherlands, and other countries toured the whole manor. They experienced China's steelyard culture during the tour and appreciated micro-carving collections whose superb craftsmanship amazed them.
