Chongqing - In this episode, renowned Canadian author Jorah Kai Wood was invited to talk about his own experiences living and working here in Chongqing as a foreign English teacher: how people’s lives have been greatly changed during the past decade; and how the rapidly expanding Chinese economy has reshaped the Chinese society; his understanding of the significance of the Chinese government in eradicating extreme poverty and improving people’s livelihood, and his perception of the dedication of the Chinese government to safeguarding people’s rights to life and health, especially during the pandemic. Kai has been an English teacher at Chongqing Foreign Language School for almost seven years, and he shot to international fame by documenting his real-life experiences living in China during the height of the pandemic in his famous journal-like book Kai's Diary, which has been published in both Chinese and English versions.
