Chongqing – The 2021 “Chongqing Gifts” Cultural Creative Product Exhibition kicked off at the Rongchang District People’s Square on July 9. It attracted a total of 45 cities, districts, and counties from southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality and Sichuan Province to participate with their various culture and tourism products over the course of three days.
Themed “Creativity Empowers the Quality Development of Culture and Tourism Industry,” the exhibition also features a tourism products competition, a foreign affairs gift awarding ceremony/plague-conferring ceremony, a sales promotion live streaming, as well as a series of training sessions on promoting the tourism products of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.
Some 10,000 pieces of creative cultural products under 19 categories had been submitted to the competition’s organizing committee, of which ten were awarded golden medals, 20 silver medals, and 50 bronze medals on-site, based on their performances in location, branding, marketing, practicality, creativity, artistry, and farsightedness.
About 260 exhibition booths for the participating cities, counties, and districts from Chongqing and Sichuan were set up across a 10,000-square-meter designated exhibition area on the Rongchang District People’s Square. Livestreamers were also seen promoting the various culture and tourism products at some exhibition booths. Thousands of viewers followed the event via online live-streaming platforms and placed orders by tapping on the links.
Developing tourism products and culturally creative products has long been seen by the Chongqing Municipal Government as an important means of transforming and utilizing the city’s abundant culture and tourism resources. Under the guidance of the Chongqing Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Commission, a multitude of trilateral cooperation mechanisms among government departments, higher education institutions, and relevant enterprises have been established to give full play to the leading role of the market in accelerating the development of the city’s culture and tourism industry in recent years.
Both of the city’s tourism industrial value-added and tourism retail industrial value-added saw a significant rebound in the second half of the pandemic-stricken 2020, with the year-round tourism industrial value-added reaching 97.92 billion yuan and the year-round tourism retail industrial value-added surpassing 27.34 billion yuan, 95.2% and 99.4% pre-pandemic levels.
The 2021 “Chongqing Gifts” Cultural Creative Product Exhibition is co-sponsored by the Chongqing Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Commission, the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government Foreign Affairs Office, and the Rongchang District People’s Government.
