Italian Design Day 2021 Took Place in Chongqing

Chongqing - On July 7th, Italian Design Day 2021 (IDD) - Chongqing was kicked off in the Chongqing Window of International Culture and Tourism centered on the theme of “Projects and materials: New challenges for the sustainable recovery of the Made in Italy”, designers from Italian and Chongqing had an enlightening discussion about how to create a better lifestyle.

Italian Design Day (IDD) is an international event which is hosted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Triennale di Milano(米兰三年展), and Milan Furniture Fair(米兰国际家具展). The Italian Design Ambassador, appointed by Italian Design Day Expert Committee, will show the high-quality Italian designs to more than 100 cities in the world.

In this event in Chongqing, the famous Italian architect Luciano Pia, Italian Design Ambassador in 2021, gave an online speech of "Green City, Urban Renewal, Old City Renovation", presenting his experience and viewpoints about the close relations between architecture and local conditions, nature, inhabitant, materials, and so on. Based on his unique design perspective and creative architecture practices, he proposed the building rules of “10+1”, which can be applied to improve energy efficiency and minimize environmental impacts.

Xu Qianli, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Chongqing Design Group took the specific case of Chongqing as the blueprint, and introduced his views on the shaping and updating of urban public space around the topic of "Urban Renewal of Return to Urban Properties and Daily Vitality".

Guido Bilancini, Consul General of Italy in Chongqing, said that Chongqing has yielded fruitful results for urban renewal. “I am sure that through the kind of constant communication and sharing, China and Italy will scale new heights in urban development and create a better life,” he added.

During the roundtable discussion, Luciano Pia along with Michele Bonino, Vice-Rector of the Polytechnic University of Turin, Xie Hui, Deputy Dean of Architecture and Urban Planning in Chongqing University, Chen Yizhong, Vice-general Manager and Art Director of E’ling Testbed 2 Cultural and Creative Park, Gianluca Dozio, Brand Representative of Lamborghini Automobile Accessories exchanged their ideas for green architecture, carbon-neutral, rebuilding of urban zones and other hot topics.
